Whether it is a ducted or split system, it is recommended that your air conditioning unit is maintained on a regular basis. In a domestic home, we recommend your system is serviced at least once a year, depending upon the environmental conditions at your location. However, a service prior to the summer and winter seasons would ensure your air conditioning stays in good working order for the times you need it most. You should also give your filters a clean once per month throughout high use times.
A typical service takes approximately half an hour to an hour and if required, will include the following.
- Check air flow
- Clean filters
- Check and clear condensate drains
- Check gas levels and pressures
- Check electrical connections
- Check general condition of indoor and outdoor units
- Check condition of coils in both units
- Check for mould and mildew

If your air conditioning system is not working the way it used to, or perhaps not working it all, you may need a diagnostic callout or repair. Firstly, check to see if your system is still within the warranty period. If so, call the installation company and determine if the fault is covered under the conditions of the unit manufacturer.
If not, for Brisbane customers, we would be happy to arrange a call out and diagnose the problem for you. But first of all you might like to try the following simple checks and save yourself some time and money.
- Are the filters clean
- Is the unit set to the correct mode
- Is anything blocking the airflow on either the indoor or outdoor units
- Is the tempersture setting appropriate
- Are windows and doors closed
- Change the batteries in the remote even if the display is visable
