Daikin HRV feed

Daikin's HRV (Heat Reclaim Ventilator) recovers thermal energy lost through ventilation and holds down room temperature changes caused by ventilation, thereby maintaining a comfortable and clean environment. This also curbs the load on the air conditioning system and conserves energy.

Heat reclaim ventilators are known by many different names around the world. As most are used in colder climates, they are commonly called heat exchange or heat recovery systems. Another common name is Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR), or Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV)

Put simply, an energy recovery ventilator, ventilates a room with tempered outside air. The ERV uses the temperature of outgoing stale air to temper the fresh incoming air. As the two air streams (outgoing and incoming) move over each other, the cooler temperature is transferred from the cool air to the warm and vice versa, while the air streams are never combined.

In an air conditioned room in summer, an ERV will expel some of the cold indoor air and use it to cool down the hot incoming air prior to circulation. Where ventilation of a room is a requirement, this process greatly reduces the air conditioning load, saving up to 30% of energy costs, also providing more opportunity for green points. The opposite is true for winter as heating costs are significantly reduced.

ERVs are very useful in sealed apartments, multi unit dwellings, mining accommodation buildings and anywhere where outside noise is an issue. They also provide filtered fresh air to promote a cleaner and healthier indoor climate free from mould and mildew growth.
